How to take maintenance, UVV testing and MA training to the next level.

Since the founding of a cheese dairy in Wasserburg am Inn in Upper Bavaria in 1878, MEGGLE has developed into an internationally renowned brand that combines tradition and progress, continuity and constant change. Customers know MEGGLE as the “inventor” of herb butter. The wide range of branded products also includes cream, butter specialties, yogurts and desserts, cheeses and spreads, and refrigerated baguettes. In addition to its headquarters in Wasserburg, the company has six production sites and stands for the highest quality worldwide. The growing success is attributed to the high level of competence in serving customers.

The global competitiveness of the entire group of companies with its various product areas for end and bulk consumers as well as the processing pharmaceutical and food industries is based on 135 years of experience and the associated know-how in handling the valuable raw materials milk and whey. More than 2,500 employees work for MEGGLE worldwide, generating annual sales of just over one billion euros.

Now let’s get down to brass tacks

The starting point for the journey for a large part of the products is the Butterei. Be it the delicious herb butter or meanwhile also vegetable products that refine grilled food. The quantity of weekly production can easily be read from the data of the connected flow storage system: Here, more than 4,000 pallets pass through the flow racks in a week. This makes for around 840 dynamic FIFO storage processes in three-shift operation every day. The pallets are scanned automatically in the warehouse, distributed to the respective product channels by shelf operators and from there taken directly to the trucks – to land just-in-time at the retailer and from there on our tables.

This continuous load on the bearing technology is known to lead to wear and necessary repairs or replacement of components. Since 2010, maintenance work has no longer been carried out reactively; the partnership with the experienced intralogistics specialist TELOGS led to a changeover of the system to scheduled service and maintenance intervals. The advantage was a significant improvement in plant availability and, incidentally, led to an improved situation thanks to a supply of spare parts that could be planned in the long term.

MEGGLE and TELOGS, that’s like butter on bread

The first test for TELOGS at MEGGLE was the complex repair of the lifting technology in the warehouse. The convincing implementation as well as other professionally executed services quickly led to the fixed agreement of annual maintenance, which will be the 12th anniversary in 2022. In addition, a complete RetroFit was carried out on the plant mechanics in 2020 as a special project. Literally over the weekend, TELOGS renewed the mechanics on the complete logistics line from the butter plant to the transit warehouse with storage and retrieval machine in order to avoid warehouse downtimes. One year later, in 2021, 328 transport rollers and connecting chains were also changed. In 2022, in addition to the annual maintenance, two lifters were completely overhauled, including the replacement of lifting shafts and chains. By implementing these jointly planned projects, the risk of failure of the warehouse could be minimized many times over. Christoph Müller, who is responsible for work preparation and planned maintenance in this area at MEGGLE, is satisfied: “TELOGS is not only a reliable partner for us for annual maintenance. Even when more complex repairs, larger measures or even a RetroFit are due, TELOGS enjoys our complete trust.”

UVV testing, certification, further training – first class for the MEGGLE warehouse.

In the meantime, the intralogistics specialist TELOGS has also made a name for itself as a specialist for certifications and specialized further training. Specialized employees from the TELOGS campus provide support, for example with workshops and seminars, in order to keep occupational safety in the respective warehouse operation at the highest possible level and to meet all legal requirements. The TELOGS campus is closely aligned with real-world topics. The intralogistics service provider’s decades of experience with maintenance tasks for a wide range of industrial sectors flow directly into the training courses. The TELOGS campus is maximally flexible when it comes to adapting training offers exactly to the respective situation of the requesting companies and participants on site. For example, MEGGLE’s in-house locksmiths are also trained by the TELOGS training facility on special topics and enabled to carry out minor repairs on their own logistics equipment themselves.
