Intelligent mobility solutions are particularly high on the agenda in a modern society. Success and development are made dependent on it. Such meaningful terms as progress, movement, flexibility or drive are associated with it. Concrete expectations, too: People’s lives and the way they work should be noticeably improved with intelligent mobility.

Since 1923, the globally active company TENTE ROLLEN GmbH has seen it as its responsibility to work every day on advancing mobility. With special castors and wheels that are considered pioneering mobility solutions, combined with a high own quality standard.

TENTE products are used in industry, trade, medical technology and for heavy-duty transport. Whether for mechanical engineering, intralogistics, factory equipment or the furniture industry: TENTE claims nothing less than to set new standards with its castors and wheels. The company employs around 1500 people in 30 subsidiaries worldwide.

“To ensure that the drive for progress does not turn into stagnation, we have almost tripled the capacity of our warehouses over the last 50 years – and we are only talking about the site in Wermelskirchen,” says Frank Günther, Head of Logistics Dispatch & Carrier at TENTE. Three warehouses with a total area of almost 30,000 square meters provide 13,716 storage spaces. According to TENTE’s performance data, all three warehouses store approximately 14,500 pallets and retrieve approximately 16,900 pallets per month.
Warehouse one was built in 1970 and equipped with technical equipment from the manufacturer MIAS. Bearing two dates from 1973 and runs with DEMAG technology. The third warehouse was added in 1997 and is equipped with FRITSCHI technology.

The history of TENTE and TELOGS

The first time TENTE and TELOGS met was at LogiMAT 2016 (international trade fair for intralogistics solutions and process management), says Frank Günther. “We saw the TELOGS booth and it looked professional and appealing. Since we were looking for a new service provider anyway, we got talking,” recalls TENTE’s chief logistics officer. Disappointed with the previous service provider, they wanted to back a new horse for the maintenance of the warehouse technology. Based on the performance requirements, there were not many companies that came into question. TELOGS was particularly attractive for the roller specialist, as the manufacturer-neutral service provider could look after all three warehouses. “Vendor neutrality is our big plus, along with other advantageous performance features,” says TELOGS key account manager Sascha Troge. “We know that intralogistics companies can save time, money and nerves with us here in particular.”

The stone starts rolling

After a constructive approach and coordination phase, TELOGS was able to convince with its services and become a long-term contractual partner for the electromechanical maintenance and UVV inspections. Brand-neutral service, he says, was the deciding factor for the roll specialist, which operates three warehouses using different technologies. TELOGS is a central contact for the maintenance of all three bearings.

In-house maintenance versus external service providers?

According to Sascha Troge, you can also score points with the way you work. For example, “little things” that are discovered during commissioned maintenance are taken care of at the same time: “We replace small mechanical components directly, quickly and unbureaucratically,” explains the intralogistics specialist. This would relieve the customer’s internal maintenance team. Upcoming major work would be systematically recorded in order to subsequently coordinate it with those responsible at TENTE. The reel professional tries to cover much of this with its in-house maintenance. “If we don’t have our own capacities free for the upcoming work, or if we lack the know-how, then we have TELOGS make us an offer. In almost all cases, TELOGS is then also booked for the job,” says Frank Günther and goes on to explain: “We like the pragmatic approach, the flexibility and the fast response time of the people at TELOGS.”
