Complete Maintenance Service
On-time delivery capability is a decisive competitive factor and thus the most important asset of a logistics service provider. This requires maximum plant availability. For this reason, BLG Handelslogistik GmbH & Co. KG commissioned the technical service provider TELOGS with manufacturer-neutral maintenance and servicing at the Koblenz site. The Giessen-based service provider has been responsible for the complete maintenance of the entire building as well as the warehouse and conveyor technology there since 2008.

Service for all equipment manufacturers

As an internationally active logistics service provider, BLG Handelslogistik employs over 14,000 people worldwide. In Koblenz, the company operates a European distribution center for the branded pastry manufacturer Griesson de Beukelaer. The BLG customer’s product range includes the well-known brands DeBeukelaer, Griesson, Prinzen Rolle and LEICHT&CROSS.

Initial situation
In 2008, BLG took over the Koblenz warehouse location of the Europe-wide cookie producer from the previous operator. At that time, TELOGS had already been responsible for the Complete Maintenance Service (CMS) on site as a partner for two years. “Maintaining conveyor and storage technology of varying complexity from different manufacturers is not one of the core competencies of a logistics service provider. For this reason, the previous warehouse operator had already handed over this task to a specialized service provider. When we took over the warehouse, we first checked what results TELOGS had achieved in the past. TELOGS’ work convinced us, and the risk of disruptions was sustainably reduced,” recalls Darijo Mijackovic, Head of Warehousing and Distribution at BLG. Since BLG always keeps operating expenses as low as possible, this project should also be handed over to a central, manufacturer-independent service provider who is responsible for all maintenance and servicing tasks.

Tailor-made concept for an individual plant
“Based on the actual situation, we carried out a detailed analysis of the warehouse and conveyor technology and developed an individual maintenance concept with a defined target condition,” explains Jürgen Dönges, Managing Director of TELOGS GmbH. In day-to-day business, the Complete Maintenance Service for BLG works as follows: An employee of the maintenance specialist accompanies daily operations on site and immediately eliminates technical faults. He has his own workshop for this purpose.

TELOGS also handles spare parts management. If major breakdowns occur unexpectedly, additional TELOGS specialists can be deployed at any time. In this way, optimal functionality of the plant is ensured at all times. Effort and costs are also variably adapted to actual needs. More extensive repairs, inspections and regular maintenance of the stacker cranes and pallet conveyor technology are carried out outside BLG’s working hours. Similarly, the necessary safety inspection is carried out in accordance with DIN EN 528 or 619. To ensure maximum transparency, the maintenance specialist records all measures in a log. This document serves as the basis for continuous
Optimization measures on the plant. Darijo Mijackovic sums it up: “Thanks to CMS, we can concentrate fully on our daily business, while TELOGS enables us to operate trouble-free. Even outside the contractually agreed times, our partner provides help quickly and unbureaucratically.”
